What is the PADI Nitrox Course?
Become a Experienced Enriched Air Diver
The PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver Course is one of the most popular PADI specialties, allowing divers to extend their bottom time and reduce nitrogen exposure by using enriched air nitrox. Whether you’re a recreational diver looking to make the most of your dives or planning to advance into technical diving, this certification is a game-changer.
Why Take the PADI Nitrox Diver Course?
Even if you don’t plan to dive on Nitrox regularly, having a Nitrox certification allows you to use scuba cylinders with mixed enriched air with up to 40% oxygen. This skill can be used for deep dives, wrecks to extend your bottom times as well as allow you to join diving trips like liveaboards where diving nitorx is mandatory.
✅ Longer Bottom Times – Enjoy extended no-decompression limits compared to diving on regular air.
✅ Shorter Surface Intervals – Spend less time waiting between dives and maximize your dive day.
✅ Less Fatigue – Many divers report feeling less tired after nitrox dives compared to air dives.
✅ Foundation for Advanced Diving – If you’re considering deeper dives or technical diving, nitrox is an essential step.

FAQs About the Nitrox Diving
How long does the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course take?
If you choose the Nitrox Dry course, typically takes half a day, including e-learning, plus a couple of hours at the dive centre for reviews and practical tank analysis. Alternatively, it can take 1 day, whereby you take a nitrox diving trip and you will complete the reviews and practical tank analysis on the boat whilst diving on Nitrox.
Do I need to complete a dive for the Nitrox course?
No! The PADI Nitrox course is primarily a theory-based training certification, with PADI e-learning and a short practical session – no wet dives are required. However, we offer an optional Nitrox dive trip training experience that includes Nitrox dives with your enriched air nitrox training so you can apply your new skills in real-world conditions on day one.
Is nitrox safe?
Yes, when used correctly. The course covers how to safely plan and execute nitrox dives while staying within oxygen exposure limits.
Can I combine the Nitrox training course with another diving course?
Absolutely! Many divers combine Nitrox training with their Advanced Open Water Diver Course or Deep Diver Specialty for maximum benefits.
