What is the PADI Deep Course?
Become a Skilled & Experienced Deep Diver
Take your diving skills to the next level with the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course. If you’re already an Advanced Open Water Diver and want to safely explore deeper dive sites, this course is for you! You’ll train to dive up to 40 meters, mastering controlled descents, deep diving safety, and managing the effects of nitrogen narcosis.
This course also counts toward your PADI Master Scuba Diver certification and is a stepping stone toward Technical Diving.
Why Take the PADI Deep Diver Course?
Even if you don’t plan to dive to 40m regularly, any dive deeper than 18m is considered deep. While you get an introduction during your Advanced Open Water Course, the Deep Diver Specialty provides:

The Advanced Open Water Course includes a single deep dive as part of your training, while the Deep Diver Specialty Course provides 4 dedicated deep dives and in-depth knowledge on deep diving techniques, safety, and nitrogen narcosis management.
Can I take this course if I don’t have much diving experience?
Yes! As long as you’re a certified Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and at least 15 years old, you can take the course. This course is designed to build your skills and confidence in deep diving.
Can I combine this course with other specialties?
Absolutely! Many divers combine the Deep Diver course with Nitrox (Enriched Air) training, which extends bottom time at depth. You can also bundle it with Wreck Diving or sidemount diving for a full adventure experience!
